Bastille consists of a set of wooden slats that create the functionality.
Designed to defend the Porte Saint-Antoine and the vulnerable ramparts to the east of Paris, the Bastille (aka Bastille Saint-Antoine) was initially a fortress and an arsenal. Very quickly, with its military utility having fallen short of expectations - "besieged, it always surrendered" - a new complex was constructed. Nowadays, the Bastille is where L'Edito has chosen to hold the fort.
Bastille was taken by storm on 17 March 2010 by the people of Paris, clamouring for wood. For these revolutionaries, it was a matter of storming the last bastion of L'Edito in Paris, following the uprising of 13 July.
